Blogs Do Make Money

Make Money Blogging and More…

Down and Out

This time, I cannot help share my personal thoughts here as it involves this community. As most of you all know, the server went dead on us. My webhost did the best he could but because the backup copy was not the latest one, I lost all my plugins, pictures, pages, comments and even the forum.

We moved to another server to get the blog back to live but because I lost many of my precious posts, I felt like I had lost a big part of my life. The most important driver for me was BDMM’s testimonial page which some members had taken so much trouble to write for me. On top of that, I lost all the subscribers to this blog too. It is the worst nightmare in my entire blogging life.

I am not in the mood to put things back together here. I have lost the motivation. Seriously.

Poll Result

I have decided not to wait till the poll closes on 31st May for the result announcement. Most members took the trouble to vote immediately and out of 79 members who were active in the forum, 69 have already voted. Thus, after viewing the result, the difference of the 10 members who did not vote will not make any difference to the end result on the 31st May.

Here’s a view of the result as at 11th May 2008:

Since the majority has a preference for emails, I hear ya! With immediate effect, we shall revert back to the use of emails for all forms of communications on projects. To ease my administration work, I would like you all to ensure that you DO NOT CHANGE the email title whenever you email back to me. Otherwise, I will not be responsible for overlooking your reply ;)

However, do note that the forum will still be available for those who prefer to use it and projects will also be put up here. Thank you for your participation in the poll.

BDMM Is Currently Closed For Admission Of New Members

BDMM Is Currently Closed For Admission Of New Members

This shall take immediate effect.

While interested bloggers are still able to submit their applications, BDMM will not be approving admission for new members until further notice. All applications will be kept in view and once we are open to new members, an email will be sent out to these applicants.

However, current members who are interested to submit their new blogs (which qualify)are still able to do so.

Sell Links with TNX

TNX is a new link advertising platform which enables webmasters to sell links on their websites. In a nutshell, this is what TNX is all about:

Tnx.net combines the benefits of Contextual Advertising, Text Link Brokers and Relevant Exchange of permanent non-reciprocal text links.

I believe TNX will appeal to many bloggers as they also accept Page Rank 0 blogs. It is free to sign up and because they work using the point system, you will automatically be rewarded with 2,000 TNX points upon signing up. On top of that, TNX is also currently giving away 5,000 points and you can read all about it at the DP forum.

It is pretty easy to sign up as all that is required are some basic information. When you have logged in, you can view the dashboard on your left sidebar.

Firstly, before you can add your blog to their system, you need to install a script on your blog. For this purpose, there is a choice of Php or Perl codes. Once you have pasted the codes to your blog, you are required to fill in the necessary information to add your blog. The waiting time for approval is 1-3 days.

How do publishers earn? Basically, there are two ways to earn here. The preferred choice is of course sell links to advertisers at your own rate. The other option is to sell to TNX at the price of $0.82 per 1,000 points (rates effective 14.04.2008). Do note that this is not a fixed rate as buyout price grows every week due to growth of the entire TNX network and its effectiveness. Payment will be via Paypal and the minimum required for payouts is $5.

The advantage of using TNX is that webmasters are able to sell links on every page of their websites, instead of just the main page. TNX claims that it could be up to 10 times more profitable than selling sitewide links. Webmaster can also choose their advertisers themselves, placing only links that are relevant to every page of their sites.

However, the point system appears to be a drawback as it may confuse advertisers as well as publishers. Having said that, TNX may be worth a try because it does not let the link buyer know the site which they are buying links on. Only when a link is established, then the link buyer will be aware of which site is running the ad. Thus, your website is not publicized to the whole world which is definitely an advantage for publishers.

If you are interested to try out, do sign up via my affiliate link here TNX.net: Sell links on every page of your site to thousands of advertisers!

Make Money With Snapbomb

Snapbomb was brought to my attention a couple of weeks back by one of our BDMM members, Healthfreakmommy. I had signed up with one of my blog and had received approval 1 day later but have not had time to try out the system.

For this review, I had logged into my account and had a good look around. Apparently it seems that a script has to be installed on your blog to allow the value of your blog to be tracked. The value of your blog, which is also the value per post you will get for your blog, is based on its popularity, quality, expertise in a field, audience size and reach and feedback from your posts.

There isn’t much said about the requirements for a blog to get in so, I am a little skeptical here. I believe at the very least, the basic conditions must be laid down. Afterall, even BDMM has requirements.

Other than that, the system looks quite similar to other paid post networks as they are utilizing the same model below:

Payment wise, Snapbomb claims that the minimum payout is $25 and bloggers will get paid on the first payment day after 60 days from posting. Payment dates are on the 1st and 16th of each month and made through PayPal or check.

If you are keen on experimenting, here’s a site that may appeal to you. For those who have tried it out, I’d appreciate some feedback.

Entrecard Banner

The above was given to me as an Easter gift from Simmone of Ezmoneyon.net. Awesome peeps deserve to be promoted on BDMM, thus explains this post.

Ezmoney is currently giving away free premade entrecard banners on their blog, add on wordings for only $1 and customized banner for $2. If you’ve not had your Entrecard banner customized yet, head over there and pay them a visit. Oh yes, remember to tell Simmone I said HI :)

Shireen Loh Is Leaving BDMM

Hello Folks,

I guess the title says it all ;)

It is with deep regret that I announce to all that Shireen Loh will no longer be assisting me in BDMM due to personal reason. During her short stint, she has done a wonderful job promoting BDMM and it is unfortunate that she is unable to continue to do so.

I thank her for all her hard work and contribution and wish her all the best in her future endeavour.

Make Money Wtih Buy Blog Reviews

I signed up for Buy Blog Reviews a couple of weeks ago and have received approval for 3 of my blogs. However, I have yet to write any posts as I did not bid on any of the offers.

The usual requirements apply for admission into the program:

Your blog must have unique content and must not contain any kind of illegal, porn or hate material. Your domain must have valid PageRank. Blogs with very little content will not be allowed.

In my opinion, the above conditions are too general and I am sure that there will be more stringent requirements when they have build up their numbers of bloggers. To submit your blog, all you need to do is register an account and submit it via the system. However, approval for blogs can take up to 72 hours.

As I mentioned earlier, the system used is very similar to what Sponsored Review is using, which is the bidding system. You can only bid on opportunities in category which you already have a blog registered. Another important point to note is that all blog postings are required to be permanent and will remain online as long as the blog is live.

Bloggers get paid 70% of the amount offered and Buy Blog Reviews gets the other 30%. Payment is made via Paypal on the 15th and 30th of every month.

Make Money With Blog Distributor

First of all, please note that I have not tried out this ad network as it only accepts blogs from US and Canada. Blog Distributor is the new kid on the blog (pun intended) as far as pay to blog networks are concerned. In fact, at the time of writing this, their “About” page is not even available yet.

Here are the requirements for sign ups:

  • Blogs must be written in English
  • There must be at least 20 Blog Postings in your Blog in the last 90 days
  • Blogs must be indexed in Google
  • Blogs must look professional
  • No profanity allowed

It appears that the minimum payment per post is $5 and the more “popular” your blog is, the higher the amount they will pay per blog posting. Payment will be made every week via Paypal.

Do take note that there are also other rules to be adhered to, as follows:

  1. Your Blog Posts must remain on your site permanently
  2. You are not allowed to use the No Follow tags in your posts
  3. Blogs that have a low response rate to new Listings will be de-Certified
  4. No in-posts disclosure but sitewide disclosure is allowed

Those who are interested and eligible can sign up here.

Problem Withdrawing Via VMI

A couple of weeks back, my withdrawal through Paypal using VMI card was rejected. Of course, I was shocked as I have never had any problem withdrawing for almost a year now. Then, I received an email from Paypal:

An electronic funds transfer from your PayPal account to your bank account was declined by the bank. Typically, this happens for one of the following reasons:
The bank account number does not exist or is otherwise invalid
- The bank branch listed in your PayPal account does not exist
- The bank does not accept electronic withdrawals
- Other reasons not specified by the bank

Before attempting another withdrawal to your bank account, please check that you have the correct information from your bank, and update it in your PayPal profile if necessary.

I then wrote to my VMI agent and she informed me that Virtual Money had changed their ACH system. Thus, I had to add my card to Paypal with the new coordinates. A few days after adding the new ACH coordinates, I found out that my Paypal account access has been limited. This means I cannot withdraw nor receive funds. This result in another panic.

I logged onto my Paypal account and read from my dashboard that I needed to fax over a couple of documents for verification. One of the proof required was the US bank account statement and there was no way I could obtain that as I only had the online statement which was not acceptable. Thus, after faxing all other documents, I explained to Paypal that I was using the VMI card. I had my account restored but was requested to give them authority to remove the VMI card linkage to my Paypal account as it was not a valid US bank account. So, I was unable to withdraw my Paypal money through VMI from then on.
